OUR FOUNDER'S STORY

I realized early that barbering was never really about hair. 

Behind the chair, I watched people walk in carrying stress, burnout, insecurity, uncertainty, grief, pressure, and sometimes the feeling that life had quietly drifted away from who they once believed they could become. And over and over again, I watched something change. 

Confidence returned. 

Conversations opened up. 

People stood taller when they left than when they walked in. 

That stayed with me. 

What began as learning a trade eventually became something much deeper. I started to understand that barbering sits at the intersection of identity, confidence, discipline, entrepreneurship, community, and personal transformation. The chair became more than a workplace. It became a place where people rebuilt pieces of themselves.

At the same time, I was going through my own seasons of growth and reinvention. 

"My path was not perfectly mapped out. Like many people, I experienced moments where I had

to figure things out in real time — navigating pressure, rebuilding after setbacks, searching for

clarity, balancing ambition with responsibility, and learning how to evolve without losing myself in the process."

Those experiences changed the way I viewed success.



I realized that most people are not lacking potential.

They are lacking direction.

Structure.

Belief.

Guidance.

Vision.

And sometimes simply an environment that reminds them they are capable of more.

That realization became the foundation for IMPACT Barber Academy.

When IMPACT was founded in Austin, Texas, the vision was never to create another traditional barber school focused only on hours, attendance, and passing an exam. I wanted to build something that reflected the realities of the real world — a place where students could develop not only technical skill, but also confidence, professionalism, leadership, communication skills, discipline, business awareness, and personal growth.

Because in this industry, talent alone is never enough.

Success is built through consistency.

Through relationships. Through professionalism. Through emotional intelligence. Through how you carry yourself when nobody is watching. Through how you respond to pressure, setbacks, and opportunity.

Over the years, I’ve worked with students from many different backgrounds and life stages —recent graduates, working adults, parents, veterans, creatives, entrepreneurs, career changers,

and people rebuilding after difficult seasons. Different stories. Different struggles. Different goals.

But many of them were searching for the same thing:

freedom.

Freedom to create a better future.

Freedom to support themselves and their families.

Freedom to build something of their own.

Freedom to stop feeling stuck.

Freedom to become who they know they are capable of becoming.

That is why IMPACT’s mission extends beyond licensing.

Yes, we train students for the Texas barber license. But we also prepare them for the realities of the modern industry:

• professionalism 
• communication 
• entrepreneurship 
• financial growth 
• leadership 
• long-term career sustainability 

I believe barbering remains one of the few industries where someone can still completely

reinvent their life through skill, consistency, relationships, and reputation. But I also believe

education must evolve with the world students are entering.

Today’s students need more than outdated systems and generic instruction. They need

mentorship. Flexibility. Real-world preparation. Leadership development. Emotional intelligence.

Business understanding. Technology awareness. And an environment that challenges them togrow personally as much as professionally.

No meaningful vision is built alone. As the IMPACT vision expanded, I was fortunate to align with experienced industry professionals who shared the same commitment to education, mentorship, professionalism, and raising the standard of barber training. Together, with decades of combined experience in barbering, cosmetology, business, and education, we helped transform IMPACT from an idea into a growing educational platform designed to create lasting impact within both the industry and the community.

That vision continues to push IMPACT forward.

What started as a school has evolved into something larger — a platform for education, mentorship, entrepreneurship, leadership development, workforce preparation, and community impact.

Through partnerships, youth initiatives, coaching, and modern educational systems, the mission continues to expand beyond the classroom.

Because this work was never only about barbering.

It has always been about helping people rebuild confidence, rediscover purpose, and create a future they can truly take ownership of.

At its core, IMPACT exists to remind people of something many have forgotten: your current situation does not have to become your permanent identity.

Sometimes transformation begins by learning a skill.

But what people often gain in the process is belief in themselves again.

And once someone truly believes they are capable of more, everything in their life can begin to change.

That is the vision behind IMPACT Barber Academy. And that is the work that the IMPACT Family will continue building for years to come.
